Cuttlebrook Koi Farm is situated on the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire border on a site that was specifically chosen by Mark many years ago as being ideal for a koi farm because of the clay soil which gives the Koi all of the nutrients and minerals in the natural mud ponds that they need to develop their colours to the full.
Cuttlebrook Koi Farm is owned and run by Mark and Lisa Davis, Mark is co-author of the Interpet Encyclopedia of Koi and author of numerous articles on koi breeding and keeping. He Studied fish farming at Sparsholt College and went on to spend 6 months living and working on a koi farm in Japan studying everything from breeding and pond management to selection.
We do not import fish for growing on and sell only the fish which we have bred ourselves.
Every year we strive to improve the quality of the koi we produce and this has resulted in koi bred by Cuttlebrook Koi Farm winning many prizes at koi shows around the country whilst competing against some of the very best Japanese bred fish in the UK. Koi bred by us have won many awards at the BKKS National Koi Show in recent years including First Place in Kawarimono class size 5, Best overall Size 1 (twice) and best overall size 3 with our first 'Major National' award coming in 2010 with the Baby Champion award given to a size 1 Shiro Utsuri, this wasn't however our first Baby Champion award as a Showa bred at Cuttlebrook was also awarded Baby Champion at the EMKC Winter Koi Show 2010.
As we are a working koi farm all visits are by appointment only, this ensures that not only will someone be available to assist you but it allows us to ensure visits don't coincide with the more demanding routines of the farm.
