In the last few weeks we have had the BKKS auction, the Koi Quest Day and two Koi Club Days, not to mention lots of other visitors. Last week the "student season" began and for the last week we have had a lovely chap called Peter doing work experience with us. |

All of our mud ponds have been drained down for a while now, with the exception of No4 pond which is where we put around 200 koi from our last autumn harvest that we didn't have room for in our sales tanks over the winter. |

As I was walking past No3 pond after harvesting No4 pond earlier today, I decided to take a picture of the bottom of the pond. Not the most exciting subject, tis true, but quite important to us. |

At this time of year things are a bit less hectic than at other times and so it is a chance to play catch up in some areas and to start new projects. All the tosai have been regraded and sales tanks replenished as a result. |

Things may be a bit quieter at this time of year but it doesn't mean that there's not still lots to do! Since before Christmas Mark has been pollarding some of the larger willows that grow in our hedgerow and cutting back some of the trees around the settlement pond. I can't say that I enjoy seeing Mark up a tree wielding a chainsaw but he's very good at it! |
