11 May 2008

Koi Quest is an internet chat forum run by Koi health specialist, Duncan Griffiths.  It is a great place for like minded koi enthusiasts to exchange ideas and experiences on filtration, koi health, pond construction and all aspects of koi keeping.  I joined Koi Quest back in autumn 2005 and it has the most friendly and welcoming atmosphere I have experienced on any Koi internet forum.  Being a member of Koi Quest is like belonging to a very special kind of koi club.

In May 2006, at Cuttlebrook Koi Farm,  we held our first Koi Quest Day where members were able to meet each other, take part in some fun competitions, socialise and enjoy the food and drink. We also choose this opportunity to make available for sale for the first time some of the koi that we have been growing on over the winter.  Questers have the opportunity to see the facilities at Cuttlebrook Koi Farm and the koi that we are planning to grow on over the summer too.  It was a great success in 2006 and 2007 and we all had such a good time that we decided to do it again in 2008.

The day starts at 10.00 am when the gates open and food and refreshments are available throughout the day until 4.00pm.

There will be a judging competition where a small selection of koi will be on display for everyone to have a go at ranking in order of quality.  At the end of the competition, Mark Davis will announce which one he judges to be the best and why.  The winner will be the person who comes up with the same answer as Mark and if there is more than one person, a winner will be chosen at random from the correct answers.

We also have a treasure hunt which will take you around the farm, testing your knowledge of all things koi along the way.  The winner is the person with the most correct answers who completes the course in the shortest time.

There will be a “Grow and Show” competition with some of our tosai, details to be announced nearer the time.  The winners of last years Showa Grow and Show will also be decided on the day.

You have to be a member of Koi Quest to come along on the day and to register, you will need to contact me via Koi Quest.  Koi Quest can be found with the following link

We look forward to meeting lots of Koi Quest members, old and new, in 2008!
