We have a new student called Dan on work experience from Sparsholt with us for the next three weeks. He is doing a degree course and currently works part time at an aquatics centre but is keen to develop his knowledge on Koi in particular.

Mark has been giving him some lessons on varieties but I'm sure he will have lots of questions on all aspects of Koi whilst he is here. So far he has cleaned a couple of spawning tanks and, as we have another couple of spawnings still to do, he will help with the preparations and hopefully get to see the fish spawning and maybe help hand strip if we decide that it is necessary.

At the moment he is witnessing the eggs developing and fry hatching from the last lot of spawnings that we did and will help put the fry out into the mud ponds.

It's raining today so Mark has found him some jobs to do inside but over the next few days the weather looks like it will be great so I'm sure there will be lots for him to do outside - probably involving lots of strimming I expect as there's plenty to do!
