We harvested this year's Shusui yesterday and took a few pictures this morning to show you. As a recap, here they are at first selection, back in July.
As you can see, they were pretty pale with hardly any of that characteristic blue showing through. Today they are like this.
As you can see, the blue has really come through. Below is an example of a really nice Hanna Shusui. That's one where the hi comes above the lateral line. In a classic straight Shusui, the hi would not come above the lateral line.
This koi has a pretty much perfect "zipper" line along its dorsal and the hi either side is really well balanced. It has a nice white nose too, which is something else that we look for. |
